In essence as ghost trap is exactly as it sounds, a box or bottle designed to trap and contain a spirit. Its actually a variant on ghost water, but much more specifically aimed. The first thing to do is a lot of research into the spirit, finding out its name, who it was in life (if it was ever alive) and what it likes.

The next step is to acquire some of its likes, for example if it likes cigars then buy a good cigar. Spare no expense in buying this bait for maximum effect. Its always worth having a selection of things rather than a single one. You'll also need to find a small candle and either a bottle or a small metal box. Both the candle and container should be carefully cleansed and prepared, though the bait should be left untouched.

If using a bottle then shape the base of the candle so that it will fit into the neck. If using a box then make sure there is enough space for the candle inside. You'll also need something to seal the bottle with if you're using one. Get a slip of paper and write the name of the spirit on it, then place it inside the bottle or box. If you can find or draw a picture of the spirit (assuming it was alive) add that to the box as well.

Draw a circle around the box or bottle and place the bait near it, inside the circle. Place the candle inside the box or the neck of the bottle and light it. Leave it to burn. As soon as the candle has gone out seal the bottle or close the box. Hopefully you have now trapped the spirit inside. Put the box or bottle somewhere safe (if you want to use it again) or bury it to dispose of it.

Lust

A simple spell for lust, not love. For best effect you should use water empowered by the graves of plague victims, and having a little grave dust doesn't hurt. At night on either an overcast night or the night of a new moon travel to your victim's house. Anoint the ground at each doorway to the house with a little ghost water, and smear the door itself with grave dust if you have it. Then leave.

This should draw spirits and disease to the house, making life for your victim unpleasant at best. Bear in mind though that this will affect the entire household, and may even affect visitors.

Ghost Water

A rather simple to make but effective agent for necromancy this one. It can also be used for cursing quite well.

Take a glass bottle and fill it with spring water. For preference collect the water yourself at night, but if necessary plain bottled spring water will do. Make sure that you have cleansed the bottle with salt water and then washed it well with pure water before bottling the spring water. Do not let the water or the bottle see sunlight after it has been sealed.

Once you have your bottled spring water take it to a gravesight at night. A little research can help here to choose the right grave for the ghosts you want to work into the water. Leave the water at the grave you have chosen for a full day and night, preferably a full moon if you can. Then collect the water, again at night, take it home and place it in a wooden box until use.

Four Thieves Vinegar

A useful banishing agent for both illness and unwanted people. Supposedly this recipe came from four thieves who somehow managed to rob the houses of dead, plague-ridden victims without becoming infected. When finally caught they negotiated a trade, the recipe for their potion in exchange for their freedom.

Get hold of the best red wine or apple cider vinegar you can find and some garlic cloves. Boil the garlic and allow it to cool, then peel and crush the garlic and add it to the vinegar, you cannot use too much garlic in this. Add to this four of the following ingredients: black pepper, cayenne pepper, coriander, lavender, mint, rosemary, rue, sage, thyme or wormwood.

Allow the mixture to sit for four days, shaking once each day, before use.

One of the ways to use this to get rid of unwanted people is as follows, get a business card or other focal object belonging to the person and place it in a glass or jar. Tying spirits into your magic through the use of dirt from their graves or dust from their tombstones almost always strengthens magic, though you may want to be careful to research a little about whose grave you are taking it from. You wouldn't want to try a healing spell using dirt from the grave of a plague victim or murderer for example, or at least I wouldn't recommend it.

The way that I'd always choose to collect grave dirt is quite simple. Firstly you need a vessel to carry it in, a properly cleansed vessel is essential. Wash it in salt water first to purify it, then in clear water several times to get rid of the salt. Make sure it can be sealed easily.

When actually collecting the dirt I'd recommend going at night, not only is it a safer time not to be seen, but its a much more appropriate time to go to a graveyard. Take some sort of offering with you as you don't want to irritate those in the graveyard. Some sort of food and drink is always a good choice. I'd also recommend choosing a night when the moon is new.

Collecting is rather simple, if you can't bring yourself to use your hands then use a simple metal trowel. Give your offering as you leave, making sure to pay your respects to the spirits within, then return home with it. Wash yourself carefully afterwards and leave the dirt to dry.

Using negativity

Today I'm going to cover using the last two lessons. One term for this might be cursing or jinxing. Once your dolly is named and dedicated and your "battery" is charged with negativity you can use the two together.

Take your dolly and place it in, on or against your battery. Make a small circle around both and seal it (I'll cover sealing a circle tomorrow). Once this is done state your aim, as non-specific as possible, in whatever form you find appropriate. I tend to use a short verse as it is nicely memorable, and sound impressive to anyone who might be listening.

Leave the dolly there until you are satisfied that your aim is complete, then open the circle, cleanse the battery for use again and keep the dolly for later use. Do not cleanse the dolly if you want to use it again but put it in a safe and secure place.

Making a dolly

Dolly, poppet, voodoo doll, call it whatever you want. They're all built on the same basic principle of sympathetic magic. Essentially they all consist of making the doll an avatar of your target, ready to use for whatever you want.

Personally I prefer to make mine out of cloth, if you can make it out of a secondhand piece of your target's clothing so much the better. If possible try to include something of your target in the doll's construction. Some hair, blood, a fingernail, whatever.

Making the doll is simple, just make a humanoid shape out of whatever materials you're using and mix in whatever item of your target's you have. Now comes the important part, the naming.

Personally I tend to use a ceremony similar to Christian baptism. Anointing with water, invoking three deities, then declaring the name.

That's it, your dolly is ready to use. Tomorrow I'll start going into what you can use them for.

Storing negativity

Firstly find something to channel all of the anger, depression, or anything else negative that you're feeling and want to get rid of into. I personally use a little statue of a demonic tree which I found and which just 'felt' right. Be careful to make it clear to anyone you live with that they shouldn't touch or interfere with your battery.

The actual spell itself is more of a visualisation and meditation exercise than anything else. Once you've dedicated the battery you simply kneel, sit, lie or stand with it in your hands, and force all of the bad stuff you're feeling into it. Listen to some music if you find it helps, light some incense, some candles, anything which you find helps you.

You can cleanse the battery afterwards if you want to get rid of the negativity, or you can keep it and gradually build up its power for use later.
